Udupi is a beautiful Town located in Karnataka the town is located on the cost of Arabian sea and is famous for its vegetarian cuisine and South Indian restaurants all over the country. Udupi is located just 60 km from Mangalore and is famous for its beautiful covered ancient temples, laidback beaches and unexplored green forests. Udupi is surrounded by the Arabian sea on its one side and the Western ghats on other side. The most attractive thing in Udupi is the beautiful beaches such as the Malpe beach which is a hotspot for tourists serving the most delicious sea food. And also the beaches here have numerous water sports activities for the tourists and the famous St. Mary's Island which is famous for its black rocks is just a few kilometers away from here.
 

Krishna Temple, Udupi 
 

Krishna temple is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in South India and is the famous temple of Karnataka this temple is dedicated to lord Krishna. In this temple the idol of Krishna is decorated with jewels and golden chariot which is a unique attraction in this temple. In Udupi it is believed that the temple is 1000 years old. Every year thousands of devotees come and offer prayers to lord Krishna in this temple.

 

Kaup Beach, Udupi 
 

Kaup beach is present between Mangalore and Udupi, beach is another pristine and relatively untouched beach. The lighthouse here was constructed in 1901, which is open every day for an hour from 5:30 AM. The panoramic view of the sea from the top of the lighthouse is phenomenal.

 

Malpe Beach, Udupi 
 

The Malpe beach is located at a distance of 66 kilometres from Mangalore and 6 kilometres from Udupi in Karnataka. This beach has pristine white sand, pleasant weather, and the delectable food shacks here and the sea walk make Malpe Beach an ideal spot for a quick escape. The vast coastline of this hidden gemstone of Karnataka has four rocky islands. This beach is situated at the mouth of the Udyavara River, which is a small river that flows around this beach and is commonly referred to as the Malpe River by the locals.

St. Mary's Island, Karnataka is the land where Vasco De Gama set his first foot, the land whose geological importance is immense and whose beauty is spectacular. A quaint island just off the coast of Udupi, white sand beaches, rock monoliths and great wildlife making it a mesmerizing place to be in. Kodi Bengre Beach is the best attraction for beach lovers. With the Suvarna River draining into the Arabian Sea, it forms a delta and hence it gets its name as Delta Beach. It has a small port for fisheries and is famous for toddy and freshly prepared seafood. Tourists can also take boat trips into the nearby mangroves or just enjoy an afternoon of fresh seafood followed by a stunning sunset. 

 

Jomlu Teerth, Udupi 
 

Jomlu Teerth is a waterfall located in the Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, formed by the River Sita. The fall cascades down a rocky terrain from a height of 20 feet in the middle of the dense natural reserve. The music made by the gushing water body and the birds singing their hearts away is sure to captivate one and all.
 

Chandramoulishwar Temple, Udupi 
 

The Chandramoulishwar Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva, this temple must be visited by all devotees before visiting the Krishna Temple as it is also located right next to it. The history of this temple dates back to over 900 years and is older than the Krishna Mutt. It is said to be extremely peaceful inside.

The Kudlu Falls is famous for its picturesque beauty. The waterfall cascades down the Western Ghats from a height of 150 feet in the midst of a dense green cover of the hilly terrain. Thus, a favorite amongst trekkers and nature lovers.

Ananteshwar Temple, Udupi 
 

Ananteshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is an ancient 8th-century temple believed to be the oldest in the region. The main shrine is made of stone and has a recently installed silver door frame. A Hindu philosopher, Madhavacharya, trained and taught his disciples in the temple complex.

 

Coin Museum Corp Bank, Udupi 


Coin Museum Corp Bank has an extensive collection of coins belonging to various dynasties dating back to 400 BC. One can also get extensive knowledge about the history of banking in India since 1906. The Corporation Bank's founder's house was remodeled to establish the heritage museum as a 'Financial Temple'.


Anantha Padmanabha Temple, Udupi


Anantha Padmanabha Temple is located on the beautiful banks of River Sita, which is a 7th century temple dedicated to Lord Anantha Padmanabha. The temple is said to be built by Krishna Hebbar after a fire destroyed most of the shrine along with the temple car.


City Shopping, Udupi


Udupi is widely known for its world-famous Udupi cuisine, so one is bound to find most shops selling a plethora of culinary items starting from snacks, juice extracts, spices and oils used in authentic Udupi cooking. Udupi is also reputed to be a storehouse of traditional clothing and textiles. Kanjeevaram, Dharmavaram and Banaras silk sarees can be found at reasonable rates. One can also find wooden handicraft items like agarbatti stands, idols of deities, altars, etc.


Best time to visit Udupi


The winters (October to March) are the best time to visit Udupi as because of its unabated heat during summers. The winters are pleasant here. The monsoons are a suitable time for travelling to Udupi and the nearby places because the temple town has a lush green surrounding after the rains.
