Basilica of Bom Jesus

 

This beautiful church is dedicated to worship the little Jesus and is also the house of Francis Xavier, who was patron Saint of Goa and one of the founding members of the Jesuit order. This marvelous piece of architecture is made from red stone which are mind in the nearby area. The main attraction in the church is the remains of the saint, which are famous throughout the Catholic world, are kept in a beautiful silver coffin situated in an ornated marble sepulcher. This beautiful church is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site out of the seven sites present in Goa.

 

Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary

 

This beautiful bird sanctuary is just 5 km away from Panjim the capital city of Goa on the island of Chorao, on the bank of Mandovi river. The bird sanctuary is named after the great Indian ornithologist and naturalist Sir Salim Moinuddin Abdul Ali who is also known as the birdman of India. This heavenly Bird Sanctuary is the smallest bird sanctuary in India it is spread over an area of 1.8 square kilometers only.

 

The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is home to around 400 pieces of Birds which include both local and migratory birds. The sanctuary also has a lot of streams of water and tributaries that flow through the sanctuary and make the sanctuary a Paradise for birds. A great variety of birds can be found in the sanctuary like Eagles, kingfishers, egrets, parrots cormorants and herons.

 

Fort Aguada


This marvelous Fort is built facing the Arabian Sea to protect Goa from the Attacks from the sea by the foreign enemies. The another tourist attraction of the Aguada fort, is the small Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the good journey the name comes from the ships that anchored here after a long journey and replenished they are stocks before going on another journey. The most important part of the fought is the Aguada Lighthouse which was built in 1864, which is considered to be one of the oldest and first lighthouses built in Asia.

 

Se Cathedral

 

The Se Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Goa which is a top tourist attraction today. The cathedral was built to celebrate the conquest of the city to the Muslims. It is considered the largest church which was built by the Portuguese colonials around the world, originally there were two Towers in the building but one of them had been collapsed in the 18th century and was never build again. The cathedral Tower houses a large Bell which is called as the golden Bell and is the largest Bell in Goa and one of the best Church bell in the world. The church is also home to many rare old unique paintings.

 

Chapora Fort

 

The chapter of what is very famous, the fort gained its popularity after it was filmed in a Bollywood movie Dil Chahta Hai which was a super hit movie. The fort was built by Portuguese in the remains of an old fort in the same place after the Portuguese Maratha war in 1717. The fort was built by Portuguese to provide security to their territory of Goa and prevent attacks from enemies. The Chapora Fort is one of the important tourist attraction for the tourists visit Goa.

 

Shri Mangueshi Temple

 

The Mongushi Temple is a wonderful temple which is dedicated to load Shiva, is one of the most important Temple in Goa which shows the beautiful architecture of India. The temple is situated in the Mangeshi village which is just 21 km away from Panaji the capital city of Goa. The temple consist of many domes, balustrades and pilasters. The important attraction of the temple is the Nandi bull and a beautiful 7 story Lamp Tower which is called as Deepstambha.

Bondla wildlife sanctuary is one of this smallest wildlife sanctuary and  most popular sanctuary in Goa. The Bondla wildlife sanctuary spreads over and area of 8 square kilometers and is situated 3000 feet up in the Leslie green foot Hills of the Western Ghats. The Dudhsagar Waterfall is a breathtaking site and is the must visit place when you visit Goa during monsoons.
