This park is defined by rugged topography having plateaus, waterfalls, caverns in the limestone, and deep valleys, with spectacular views termed "India's Grand Canyon." Add to it the dramatic scenery of Mahadeo hills and the Simsang River, and you find a climatic condition due to elevation and closeness to the Bay of Bengal, allowing for lush and diverse vegetation, ranging from tropical evergreen forests to high-altitude grasslands.
