There are significant discoveries made from excavations, and any acknowledgment of Buddhist studies in central India’s timeline reveals that Sirpur (formerly Shripur) was a significant study site of Buddhism among approximately 100 Hindu temples and 100 viharas (or Buddhist Monasteries).
Excavations have revealed priceless artifacts such as statues, majestic pillars, pottery, coins, and a well-planned market. Allow time to see Anand PrabhuKudi Vihar that contains a prominent statue of Buddha touching the earth that is significant at six feet tall, and Swastik Vihar which served a prior utility for the meditation and studies of Buddhist monks, and if you read the historical prints of Hiuen Tsang, a Chinese traveller and monk, there were thousands visiting Sirpur to study Buddhism.
After advising you about Sirpur's heritage tour drive to Gangrel, known for its Dam as one of the largest dams located in Central India. Make this drive part of the tourism package as the road and the destination are more beautiful. From peaceful surroundings to relaxing topography, the road is design is fantastic, and when you arrive at Gangrel, check in to your hotel, and take advantage of peacefully resting overnight in your tranquil escape.
